Pre-Manufacturing Meetings

Poor planning and not fully understanding the project requirements will impact on project lead times and incur increased costs to the project. To remove this risk, BIE can chair a pre manufacturing meeting to verify the necessary steps are in place prior to the start of manufacture and the inspection process.

“Poor planning and not fully understanding the project requirements will impact on project lead times and incur increased costs to the project”

The pre manufacturing meeting is an important meeting that takes place after the vendor has been awarded the purchase order but before procurement and manufacturing commences. It is an opportunity to meet and verify that the Vendor fully understands the requirements of the purchase order, has been provided with all the required information and confirms that the information channels between the Vendor and the Client have been put in place.

This meeting will also review the Production Programme and scheduled delivery date(s) and that the Inspection and Test Plan meets the needs of the Client. Planning reduces uncertainty but if things don’t occur exactly as planned, planning the work allows us to consider the likely outcomes and to put the necessary corrective measures in place.

BIE will provide our clients with a continuity of service and personnel to ensure that we understand our Clients’ needs and working practices to maintain continuity;

  • A coordinator is assigned to the Client for the project;
  • A client specific work instruction is developed to document client specific requirements.
  • Individual assignment specific instructions are generated for field personnel.
  • Maintaining a pool of multi-disciplined BIE inspectors that can be allocated to a Client;
  • Fostering the relationship between BIE inspector/supplier so they can forecast future visits;
  • Working with the Client and Vendors to ensure assignments packages and visit notifications arrive within an adequate time to arrange the visit.
